Why SEO Hasn’t Changed All That Much Since 2019
Many SEO consultants, agencies, and companies often speculate SEO goes through vast amounts of change year over year. That’s never really been the case. SEO, for as long as it’s been around, often sees change gradually over time. We discover these changes through patent filings at first, then we hear about rumors of an upcoming algorithm change, then we wake up one morning to find our rankings have fluctuated due to Google testing a new algorithm feature. From there, the big G chooses to stick with said algorithm change if it’s deemed worth and successful, or it scraps it as a soon to be forgotten test. Either way, as long as you stick with the three pillars of SEO, you’ll always have success over time due to the fact you’re not only catering your efforts towards search engines robots, you’re catering your efforts towards the actual users; which is what Google has wanted us to do all along.
On-Site SEO in 2020
On-site SEO is what it sounds like: on-site, search engines optimization. This can consist of everything from site speed optimizations, to a proper hierarchy of pages and posts throughout your site, and even how you phrase your alt text within images. There are many intricacies involved within a successful on-site SEO strategy, yet it ultimately comes down to: would your users have a better experience when browsing through your site? If the answer is “yes”, it’ll most likely benefit your on-site SEO.
Quality Content in 2020
“Content is King” often rings true throughout the SEO world. Without consistent, quality content; Google won’t have anything to index. We all need to do our part as SEOs and keep producing quality content which our website users find informational and entertaining. There are so many different methods of producing “quality content”, yet again, it ultimately comes down to what your users are searching for (keyword research), why they’re searching for it (user-intent), and how you can help them (quality content as a solution to their problem). “The more, the merrier…” is the approach one should take with targeted, well thought out content production. While writing for writing’s sake is certainly important to keep your users looped in to whatever it is you’re selling; you’ll still want to produce content with an end goal in mind. CRO (conversion rate optimization) is key and it can be the difference between closing a sale or not closing a sale. Having the right CTAs (call-to-actions) embedded throughout your content can make a world of difference in your conversion rates.
Quality Backlinks in 2020
Backlinks are still a huge ranking factor within Google’s algorithm. Backlinks are basically a “nod of approval” in the eyes of Google. Backlinks pass link equity from one site to another through an embedded link within a post, a page, etc… These links, while extremely valuable for improving organic rankings, will also generate referral traffic to your site if the backlink happens to be from a high-traffic website.
Following the “Three Pillars of SEO” Will Always Yield Results
Yes, things may evolve and change over time, yet the true principles of SEO will continue to remain; provided we have human beings as users. It all comes down to user-experience. Is the site fast? Does it have good, informative content? Is the site an authoritative figure within its niche? All of these questions, when answered with excellent SEO strategies will prove to yield excellent results over time. We hope you enjoyed this brief insight into SEO in 2020.
